Overview

When ScreenX asked for help showcasing their movie going experience, we knew exactly what we had to do: pop some popcorn, put on our favorite movie soundtrack, and build a 3D ScreenX theater environment that made their customers feel truly immersed!

Reactive Lighting

In order to feel immersed it was important that the environmental lighting reacted to the content on screen. While rendering every trailer in 3D would be more accurate it would also be too cost prohibitive and time consuming. Our solution was to build a templated lighting system in After Effects. We achieved this by using a single Specular pass from Cinema 4D as a mask on which we could project light from the screens. This technic works across still and moving cameras as well as 360 video.
